What is Radiesse®?
Radiesse® is an injectable dermal filler composed of calcium-based microspheres suspended in a water-based gel. Radiesse works with the body to actually generate new collagen growth, which makes it an excellent choice for total facial rejuvenation.
What makes Radiesse superior to other fillers?
Radiesse works with your body to achieve its effect. Upon injection, this filler instantly adds volume, filling wrinkles and enhancing facial contours. Radiesse continues to improve skin tone by stimulating new collagen growth through its patented microsphere technology. Over time, the gel carrier component of Radiesse is harmlessly absorbed by the body. However, the tiny, smooth calcium-based microspheres remain, forming a base for a network of new collagen fibers. Eventually, the calcium microspheres are metabolized by the body, leaving improved contour and tone that lasts for up to a year or even more.
Is it safe?
Radiesse has proven both safe and effective through years of clinical testing and practical use. It has received two FDA approvals and numerous FDA clearances. What should patients know prior to treatment?
Since the components of Radiesse are not animal-derived, there is no need for allergy pre-testing. However, there are a few precautions you should take to assure the best possible results and recovery. Aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs, and certain supplements should be avoided for 7 to 10 days prior to treatment, as these can increase bleeding and bruising. Those who suffer from cold sores may be prone to subsequent breakouts at the injection site, and may benefit from pre-treatment with anti-viral medication.
How long does Radiesse last?
Results from Radiesse treatment are both immediate and continuing. In most cases, the benefits of Radiesse last up to a year or more.
How is Radiesse different from BOTOX® Cosmetic?
BOTOX® Cosmetic temporarily paralyzes the small muscles which contract to cause certain types of facial wrinkling. Radiesse is a dermal filler that increases volume beneath wrinkles or indentations in the skin, allowing the skin to appear smoother. How is Radiesse different from bovine collagen?
